Andrea Chiarini received a Master Degree in Electronic Engineering (100/100 cum laude) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from Bologna University- Italy. He has also been awarded a Master of Arts (MA) in Social Science and Research Methods (Organisation and Management) and a PhD in ‘TQM and Business Excellence' subjects from Sheffield Hallam University, UK.
He has been researching into Strategic Management, Operations Management, Industry 4.0, TQM, Lean Six Sigma, Logistics, Production Management, and CSR.
He was Managing Director at Chiarini & Associati, an Italian consulting firm dedicated to Operations Management which has carried out projects with world-wide companies such as: ABB, Barilla, Bulgari, Bridgestone, Continental, Donaldson, Ducati Motor Holding, Engie, Lamborghini, Leonardo Finmeccanica, Fiat, Ferrari, Parmalat, Scavolini, Tyco, Tetrapak, etc. He is a senior member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ).
Former professor at the University of Modena and Reggio and University of Ferrara - Italy, currently belongs to the Department of Management of the University of Verona - Italy.
He is also a lecturer at the University Bocconi - Milan, SDA Bocconi, Luiss Business School and CUOA.
In 2020, he was a visiting scholar at Cardiff University - UK.
In 2022, he was a visiting Researcher at Cambridge University - UK
Associate Editor of the 3-star-ABS journal Business Strategy and the Environment - Wiley
Andrea Chiarini serves on the Editorial Board of peer-reviewed journals such as Business Strategy and the Environment (Class A Anvur), Journal of Manufacturing Technology Management (Class A Anvur), Leadership in Health Services (Scopus and ISI WEB Ranked), and The TQM Journal (Class A Anvur).
He was chief editor of a Springer series dedicated to Operations Management (MEOP).
Since December 2023, he has been CEO and partner of the University of Verona's spin-off, Qualyco Srl. The company specialises in AI and Industry 4.0
