The Research Group “DMO – Strategic planning of tourism destinations” aims to contribute to the strategic planning and management of tourism destinations, with a particular focus on the city of Verona. The Research Group draws on its previous experience acquired through the study of destinations such as Bardolino and Sirmione. The research activity starts from the analysis of the expectations of the most relevant stakeholders (such as: policy makers, economic actors, residents, tourists) to develop a strategic plan for the city’s tourism development. For this purpose, the Research Groups uses qualitative research methods (such as in-depth interviews and focus groups) and quantitative research methods (such as surveys). Through the results of its studies, the research group supports DMO’s activities and decisions. The main publications are the following:
