The Department of Management

The Department of Management (DOM) at the University of Verona is a reference point for education, research excellence and knowledge transfer in the fields of management, business, economics and agri-food studies.

DOM stands out for its interdisciplinary approach, integrating expertise in management, business administration, finance, marketing, logistics, supply chain management, digital innovation, sustainability and agricultural economics. This combination enables the Department to address the transformation of businesses, markets and territories with a rigorous scientific perspective and a strong impact orientation.

Rooted in a dynamic production system and open to national and international networks, DOM trains professionals, managers and researchers capable of interpreting change and contributing to the sustainable development of organizations and society.

The Department of Management aims to be a centre of excellence in education and scientific research, with the goal of supporting businesses, institutions and territories in facing the challenges of tomorrow.

Vision

DOM promotes an interdisciplinary and rigorous approach, based on innovative teaching, frontier research and constant dialogue with the territory. Through evidence-based solutions, it trains professionals and researchers capable of generating concrete and sustainable impact in businesses, institutions and society.

DOM in Numbers

The Department of Management brings together two scientific areas: Business and Management Studies and Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences. This integration fosters collaboration among scholars in management, business administration and agricultural economics, enhancing scientific complementarities and synergies with the local context.

The Department’s research areas include:

  • accounting; 
  • agricultural, food and resource economics;
  • risk management;
  • corporate governance and strategy;
  • corporate governance and performance management;
  • financial intermediaries and finance;
  • logistics and supply chain management;
  • marketing and service management;
  • digital transformation and innovation in organizational and managerial processes.

 

The DOM community includes 60 faculty members. The composition of the faculty is substantially balanced in terms of gender, with a slight prevalence of women, equal to 52%, compared with 48% men.

In addition to faculty members, the Department includes more than 20 PhD students, 18 research collaborators and 4 technical-administrative staff members, who play a key role in ensuring the functioning, management and development of the Department.

In the 2025-2026 academic year, DOM supports a community of 2,705 students, including 1,585 enrolled in bachelor’s degree programmes and 1,120 enrolled in master’s degree programmes.

In the 2023-2025 period, the Department’s scientific output exceeded 100 publications in high-quality journals classified in the main international reference rankings. In terms of competitive research funding, DOM is involved in international, national and regional research projects, confirming its growing ability to attract resources, build scientific networks and develop impactful research.
