Research strategy
DOM’s research activities cover the main areas of management and business studies, with the aim of supporting businesses, public administrations, financial institutions and organizations in analysing and managing organizational, managerial, economic-financial and market-related challenges.
The Department has achieved excellent research performance, as confirmed by the results of the last national research evaluation, in which 87% of the submitted research outputs were assessed in the categories of “excellent” and “extremely relevant”. These results place DOM among the leading Italian departments in the field of management and confirm a path of research qualification based on the enhancement of internal excellence, the recruitment of internationally recognized scholars and active participation in the scientific debate within the main international journals.
In line with its scientific positioning, DOM directs research support towards outputs of higher quality and impact, enhancing publications in top-tier international journals and competitive research projects. Project development is encouraged by taking into account the competitive scope, the Department’s role, the international dimension of proposals and successful funding outcomes.
In the 2020-2024 period, DOM researchers participated in more than 37 funded or positively evaluated research projects, including international, national and regional projects. The Department also participates in the iNEST - Nord-Est Innovation Ecosystem. In the 2022-2024 period, DOM exceeded the threshold of 50% of competitive projects funded or positively evaluated, showing significant growth compared with the previous three-year period.
The Department also promotes scientific exchange through research seminars, methodological discussions and the presentation of work by visiting professors, researchers and DOM members (https://www.dima.univr.it/?ent=ciclosem&idC=176).
Research Centres and Scientific Initiatives
A strategic role in transferring research results is played by the LOOP Research Center (https://loop.dima.univr.it/it/), dedicated to the circular economy. The Centre develops research, dissemination and knowledge transfer activities for businesses and public administrations, with the aim of turning scientific results into innovative practices.
The LOOP Research Center is organized into three laboratories:
- Circular supply chain, focused on procurement, distribution, logistics and reverse logistics;
- Circular products & services, focused on consumer behaviour and reference markets;
- Sustainability governance, focused on governance and management models for sustainability.
DOM also hosts the Business Culture Centre (https://www.dima.univr.it/?ent=bibliocr&id=371&tipobc=6), which designs and organizes educational activities, research, events, consultancy projects and third mission initiatives focused on business culture.
