The Winter School “Italy Unpacked: Institutional Landscape, Corporate Governance, and Reporting Systems” is part of the Department of Management’s internationalization initiatives. It involves a group of students from the Master’s Programs offered by the College of Business at Northern Illinois University. A limited number of students from the Department
of Management’s Master’s Degree and Degree programs at the University of Verona may also participate, subject to selection.
The three-day Winter School offers participants an intensive learning experience aimed at understanding the distinctive features of the Italian institutional environment, corporate governance models, and financial and non-financial reporting systems. The program also seeks to foster the development of transversal skills, such as comparative analysis of institutional systems, effective interaction in multicultural contexts, and critical reflection on differences across governance and reporting models.
Upon completion of the course, participants will have a solid foundation for interpreting different institutional settings, corporate governance structures, and reporting systems. They will also have gained an enriching international experience, both personally and professionally. For the Department of Management, bringing together a mixed cohort of American and Italian students with similar academic backgrounds represents a unique opportunity to further internationalize the educational offering.
The Winter School combines lectures with classroom discussion and interaction. A company visit is also planned, allowing participants to directly observe key features of the Italian economic system, with particular attention to SMEs, family businesses, and Made in Italy production.
The coordinator of the Winter School is Prof. Cristina Florio from the Department of Management. Prof. Francesca Rossignoli collaborates as a faculty member.
