The course examines the transition to industrial capitalism, namely a complex evolutionary process encompassing modern history and, in the case of “second comers”, leading into contemporary history. Drawing upon an outline that will cover the most recent changes in the capitalistic system, the successful students will be enabled to identify the evolutionary dynamics of economic phenomena and to place them within ever-changing contexts. They will also realize that present-day events are to be explained against the backdrop of the long-term transformations that originated them.
