Curriculum

Dr. Ivan Russo, Full Professor of Business Logistics & Supply Chain Management at the University of Verona, brings a wealth of expertise and scholarly insight to the field. His research ambitiously spans several key areas, including supply chain management, logistics service quality, the evolving domain of closed-loop supply chains, reverse logistics and the circular economy, as well as the dynamic interplay between marketing and logistics. Dr. Russo is driven by a profound belief that these fields are not just academic pursuits but vital avenues for creating value across a wide array of stakeholders, encompassing customers, suppliers, and broader societal interests.

In addition to his extensive research in these areas, he specializes in Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA). This sophisticated, complexity-informed methodology enables him to intricately evaluate supply chain complexities. His proficiency also extends to case study research and grounded theory, adding depth and practical relevance to his academic endeavors.

As Co-Editor in Chief of the International Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics Management, Dr. Russo plays a pivotal role in shaping the discourse in logistics and supply chain management. His commitment extends to academia, serving as Director of the PhD Programme in Accounting and Management, a collaborative initiative between the University of Verona and the University of Udine, and as the Vice-Director of the Department of Management at the University of Verona.

He is the Director of the LOOP Research Center on Circular Economy,

His academic work has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Outstanding Paper Award for the Literati Awards of Emerald in 2020 and the Best Reviewer Award in 2022 for the Journal of Business Logistics. These accolades reflect his commitment to advancing the field through rigorous scholarship. He is also Senior Editor for Journal of Business Logistics.

Dr. Russo’s prolific contributions to academic literature are evident in his publications in top-tier journals like the Journal of Supply Chain Management (JSCM), Journal of Operations Management (JOM), International Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics Management (IJPDLM), International Journal of Production Economics (IJPE), Journal of Business Logistics (JBL), International Journal of Logistics Management (IJLM), Industrial Marketing Management (IMM), Journal of Business Research (JBR), Production Planning & Control (PPC), Journal of Business Industrial Marketing (JBIM), and many others. Logistics and supply chain management within the circular economy practice Although some elements of circularity such as recycling and composting are already present in the linear economy, a CE takes a step beyond the pursuit of waste prevention and reduction to inspire technological, organizational and social innovation across supply chains. The current research concerns how consumers respond to the introduction of products made from regenerated bio-waste. The supply chain management and logistics management field can provide foundational principles upon which to facilitate the transition from traditional linear consumption approaches to circular approaches. In particular, this area studies how digital technologies enabled choices among different types of supply chain governance. Omni-channel strategy and retailing Analysis of shoppers’ behaviour across online and offline contest under the lens of both marketing and supply chain management. This research aims at understanding the effect a return policy leniency has on purchase intention, adopting the theoretical framework of signaling theory. This has been realized via an experimental design maniputaling return policy leniency, the channel type and the product type.
